Commercial Type was founded in 2008 by Paul Barnes, in London, and Christian Schwartz, in New York. The two designers had already been working together for several years, notably on Guardian Egyptian, created in 2005 for the redesign of the British daily The Guardian.

Positioning
Commercial Type is one of the reference foundries for the press and publishing, with very complete families, often born from newspaper and magazine commissions, then released to everyone.
