Awwwards: interview with Emmanuel Cruellas
Emmanuel Cruellas, co-founder and creative director of Bonhomme, talks to Awwwards about the studio’s philosophy. Rather than follow graphic trends, he prefers to reveal the DNA unique to each brand, creating identities that endure. He describes the studio’s method: immersion in the brand’s world, exploration of several creative directions, then production. He also shares his view of a profession transformed by AI, where culture and the quality of ideas now make the difference, drawing on projects such as TAG Heuer × Super Mario.

Finally, he returns to the project he is proudest of: the on-air branding for France Télévisions’ programs.

Awwwards: Duroc case study
Awwwards devotes a case study to the website Bonhomme designed for Duroc, a cherry tomato grower. The studio imagined a 3D world inspired by amusement parks, in which the tomatoes become animated characters. Developed in WebGL, the experience runs in real-time 3D and faithfully reproduces the shadows and colors of the brand’s films. Calls to action are woven directly into the scenery. The result: an agricultural brand that asserts itself as modern and bold.

Communication Arts: Lacoste Heritage
The American magazine Communication Arts selected for its “Webpicks” the Lacoste Heritage website, designed by Bonhomme for the brand’s 90th anniversary. The experience tells the story of René Lacoste and the house through motion design, guided by a 3D WebGL crocodile that changes color with each chapter. The magazine highlights an accessible UX, playful shifts in scroll direction and scale, and a mobile-first design.

FWA: behind the scenes of the 5e Rue website
In the FWA’s “Insights” series, Bonhomme recounts the making of the website for 5e Rue, a consulting firm with almost no visual content. To make the site engaging nonetheless, the studio combined smooth scrolling, key-point lists and light animations built with Lottie. The article also details the tools used and a few anecdotes from the collaboration.
Awwwards: Black Messiah case study
Awwwards looks back at the interactive experience Bonhomme created for Black Messiah, a graphic novel by Dan Dasse and Julien Cohen. The studio built a 3D WebGL experience that retains the traditional look of the comic through cel-shading. Readers interact with the words of the story to trigger animations that reveal the complexity of the main character. Two independent 3D scenes allow readers to open the book and immerse themselves in the story.

In this interview with the FWA, Emmanuel Cruellas recalls his freelance years in Paris with agencies such as Unit 9, DDB and 84.Paris, then the founding of Bonhomme in 2013. He discusses his sources of inspiration, his view of education (“real experience begins when you start working”) and what FWA awards represent to him: a way to stimulate creativity rather than mere recognition.
FWA: interview with Morgane Urbain
Co-founder and creative and production director of Bonhomme, Morgane Urbain shares her journey, from fashion design to founding the studio. She draws inspiration from beyond the digital world: architecture, exhibitions, fashion, craftsmanship. She names Duroc as the project she is proudest of, for bringing a modern vision to a simple product. Her advice to young creatives: a good designer creates good design in spite of technical and commercial constraints.
FWA: behind the scenes of the Duroc project
The FWA looks back at the identity and website Bonhomme created for Duroc, the Delassus group subsidiary specializing in tomatoes. The studio imagined an unexpected identity for a tomato grower, built on colors and minimalist shapes, and unfolded across fifteen scenes that together form a film. The website is based on a mosaic to be explored freely, complemented by classic navigation for those looking for specific information.
FWA: Morgane Urbain, jury member
The FWA features Morgane Urbain among the members of its international jury. A graduate in applied arts, she worked as a fashion designer, then as head of collections and communications for a Parisian house, before co-founding Bonhomme in 2013, where she serves as creative and production director.

For him, good design stems first from understanding the client’s needs, not from chasing awards. He describes the diversity of the studio’s projects, from branding to interactive installations, and encourages young designers to remain demanding.
