From its Paris studio, Bonhomme designs on-air branding for TV channels and media groups: idents, promo banners, stickers, transitions and trailers. The studio creates animated graphic systems that make a channel recognisable in a second, without ever getting in the way of the programme on air.

1. What is TV branding?

A channel's on-air branding brings together all the graphic elements that appear on screen around the programmes: animated logo, idents, promo banners, stickers, transitions, opening titles and trailers. It is the channel's visual signature. It must be instantly recognisable, remain legible on every screen and coexist with the content on air.

Broadcast design goes further: it treats these elements as a system, rolled out on air, on the web, in apps and on social media.

2. The studio's method

Identity analysis
The studio's designers start from the brand guidelines of the channel or group, its programmes and its broadcast constraints: safe areas, durations, legibility on small and large screens.

Animated graphic system
Bonhomme designs a grammar of movement: animated typography, rhythms, transitions, how elements appear and disappear. Every format follows from it, from the small persistent sticker to the full-screen video module.

Production and roll-out
The studio produces the animations and delivers them in broadcast-ready formats. It also sets up templates and an approval process, so that in-house teams can create new on-air graphics quickly without losing consistency.

3. What Bonhomme designs

- Animated logo and channel identity
- Idents, bumpers and transitions
- Promo banners, stickers and "up next" modules
- Opening titles and trailers
- Branding for social media and catch-up platforms
- Templates and design system for in-house teams

4. Case study: France Télévisions

France Télévisions wanted to modernise its on-air graphics and unify the visual identity of its channels. Inspired by digital notifications, Bonhomme designed graphics that "pop" on screen, in 5 formats: from the small persistent sticker announcing an event to the vertical banner presenting a clip of the next programme. Viewers' favourite characters step out of the safe area to catch the eye, without interrupting the broadcast.

During the project, the studio also rethought the approval and production process for on-air graphics. Design times fell sharply, and file management is simpler across all media.

“The result truly lives up to expectations. Thank you again for your work, your creativity and your patience throughout this project.”
