Festival de Cannes ApplicationIOS app
As it approaches its 70th edition, the Cannes Film Festival aims to enhance its digital ecosystem with a dedicated mobile app. Bonhomme à Paris is designing a premium interface distinct from the website featuring features specifically designed to support festivalgoers and journalists throughout the ten-day event.
How to add value with a mobile app when a website already exists?
The Cannes Film Festival already has a premium website designed by Bonhomme in Paris. So why invest in a dedicated mobile app? The answer lies in usage patterns. During the festival’s ten days, journalists and festivalgoers need a fast, offline-capable tool suited to being on the move — on the Croisette, inside screening rooms, between two films. The web agency Bonhomme had to design an interface that doesn’t duplicate the website, but enriches it with features and an experience specifically designed for this intense, immediate context of use.
Unlike the mobile site, the app offers a much larger usable area and a different context of use. Bonhomme in Paris seizes this opportunity to enhance the premium art direction and showcase the richness of the festival’s content — programme, official selection, news, award lists. Every screen is designed to be consulted quickly, at a glance, while maintaining the editorial elegance that defines the Cannes Film Festival’s art and culture.

A UX/UI designed for daily use during the festival
The UX/UI of the app is designed as a genuine tool that accompanies festivalgoers and journalists throughout the festival’s ten days. Its design deliberately differs from the mobile site: the information hierarchy has been rethought to support intensive, context-driven use — checking the day’s programme, following results in real time, quickly accessing a film or director’s page. Dedicated features — favourites, notifications, a personalised schedule — turn the app into a premium festival tool.

Results and impact
The project makes it possible to:
- design a premium mobile app distinct from the website, with features dedicated to the festival context;
- create a UX/UI designed for intensive daily use — programme, news, real-time selection updates;
- make the most of the app’s larger usable area to deliver a rich, elegant art direction consistent with the Festival’s art and culture;
- give festivalgoers and journalists a tool that adapts to their routine during the event’s ten days;
- clearly distinguish the uses of the website and the app to maximise the value of each interface.
By bringing together web agency expertise, mobile app design, UX/UI and premium art direction, Bonhomme in Paris demonstrates its ability to create digital experiences suited to their medium — a tool that stands apart from the website and delivers an experience genuinely designed for mobile and the audiences it serves.
