Festival de CannesCorporate website

On the eve of its 70th edition, the Festival de Cannes wants to overhaul its digital ecosystem. We accompanied Ohwee in creating a digital identity usable on the five festival interfaces. Corporate website, site events, mobile application, we have produced a working design, UX and UI to make those interfaces as accessible as possible.

How to build a digital ecosystem for an institution with multiple timeframes and audiences

The Cannes Film Festival is no ordinary event — it is a multi-dimensional institution. Three timeframes coexist: the ten intense days of the festival, the rest of the year in institutional mode, and 70 years of archives to showcase. Three distinct audiences must be served at once: filmmakers and film industry professionals, the international press, and the general public. The web agency Bonhomme in Paris was tasked with designing a premium corporate website capable of meeting all these requirements without ever sacrificing the clarity or elegance of the experience.

The answer is architectural. Bonhomme in Paris designed a minimalist, editorial design system that serves as the foundation for every interface — institutional site, event site, press area. Typography, spacing and visual hierarchy are defined once and for all, then applied with rigour across every platform. This shared foundation guarantees the ecosystem’s premium consistency, whatever the timeframe or audience involved.

The UX/UI work is designed to prioritise information and make it easier to access news, videos and selected films. The platform takes a mobile-first approach, ensuring clear, accessible navigation across every device — during the festival and beyond.

A WebTV modelled on leading streaming platform standards

All videos related to the Cannes Film Festival are grouped in a WebTV section that categorises media. Designed by Bonhomme in Paris in the style of the market’s leading streaming platforms, it offers a smooth, premium viewing experience — director interviews, red carpet coverage, behind-the-scenes footage — accessible from every device during and after the festival.

The Official Selection at the heart of the experience

The official selection is at the heart of the Festival. The UX/UI showcases every component of a selected film — credits, trailer, biographies, awards — in an elegant, hierarchical layout that reflects the institution’s premium positioning. Each film page is designed to serve journalists seeking precise information as well as the general public seeking discovery.

Results and impact

The project makes it possible to:

- design a coherent, premium digital ecosystem across every platform — institutional site, event site, press area;
- structure 50 articles published daily over the festival’s ten days through a rigorous editorial design system;
- adapt the UX/UI experience to each audience: filmmakers, international press and the general public;
- create a premium WebTV that showcases the Festival’s 70 years of visual archives;
- ensure smooth, accessible navigation across every device through a mobile-first approach.

By bringing together web agency expertise, corporate website design, UX/UI and design systems, Bonhomme in Paris demonstrates its ability to design premium digital ecosystems for the most demanding cultural institutions — a coherent, high-end system whose navigation and features respond to every audience.
