24hours.earthImmersive website
For the International Earth Day, Suez decides to create a website about recycling in our daily life. Bearideas agency ask us do design it. A newspaper, a car : our everyday objects can have a second life. To preserve the natural resources of the planet, we know how to turn your waste into new resources. Are you ready?
How to bring static content to life to raise audience awareness of planetary issues
Suez holds a wealth of content on major issues around natural resources and recycling. But a report or an infographic is no longer enough to capture the attention of a digital audience pulled in every direction. The challenge is precise: how to turn this corporate content into an online experience engaging enough to make visitors stay, listen and understand? How to address serious subjects without slipping into cold communication? The answer lies in storytelling — a story told with the rigour of a major media outlet and the sensitivity of an immersive website conceived as an artistic project.
The web agency Bonhomme in Paris designs a narrative device built around a voiceover that guides the visitor through the site’s 9 chapters. In collaboration with illustrator Thomas Vieille, the illustrations animate progressively — they draw themselves as the story unfolds, creating a reveal effect that sustains attention and heightens the emotional impact of each sequence. The motion design is not decoration: it is the primary vehicle of the narrative.
This artistic choice creates a poetic distance that makes it possible to address weighty realities — pollution, resource depletion, recycling — with the lightness needed to keep visitors engaged rather than discourage them. Telling a serious story through illustrations that come to life: this is the creative paradox at the heart of 24hours.earth.
The UX/UI work carried out by Bonhomme from its Paris offices is designed to disappear. The interface should not draw attention to itself — it exists to serve the story. Each chapter has its own visual rhythm, its own palette and its own narrative intensity, while remaining part of a coherent, premium whole. The experience is also available on tablet, with audio chronicles on recycling and the economics of the Earth’s natural resources, allowing each topic to be explored further beyond the main navigation.
Results and impact
The project makes it possible to:
- design a premium immersive website that turns corporate content into a living, engaging story;
- animate Thomas Vieille’s illustrations to create a memorable motion design experience across 9 chapters;
- develop a UX/UI that lets the interface disappear in favour of the narrative and keeps visitors engaged to the end;
- extend the experience to tablet with complementary audio chronicles;
- raise broad audience awareness of recycling and natural resource issues through an accessible, emotional story.
By bringing together web agency expertise, immersive website design, UX/UI and motion design, Bonhomme in Paris demonstrates its ability to turn a complex corporate challenge into a premium digital experience. The 24hours.earth project earned an Awwwards Honorable Mention, an Awwwards Site of the Day and a CSSDA Website of the Day.
