Black MessiahImmersive website

Black Messiah is a comic book created by Dan Dasse and Julien Cohen. Morfeus agency, which is working on its launch, entrusts the web agency Bonhomme in Paris with designing a digital device capable of presenting the first episode to its audience. The challenge is not to create a simple presentation page, but to invent an experience that makes people want to enter the dark world of Alex, the main character, even before opening the comic book.

Turning the launch of a comic book into a digital event

Launching an art and culture work on the web raises a fundamental question. How do you create interest in a world the audience does not yet know? A conventional presentation page is not enough. You need a format capable of conveying the atmosphere, the narrative tension and the graphic personality of the work in just a few minutes. The challenge is to shift the visitor from the status of passive spectator to that of curious participant, engaged enough to want to discover what comes next.

An immersive website that brings the world to life before reading

The web agency Bonhomme in Paris designs an immersive website developed in WebGL, which plunges the user into Alex's world from the very first seconds. Five key scenes from the first episode are staged interactively, each revealing a central theme of the story. The experience rests on a simple, powerful principle: interacting with a word changes the meaning of a sentence, making the visitor directly responsible for the story they discover.

From its offices in Paris, Bonhomme builds an art direction entirely dedicated to the world of Black Messiah. Every visual detail, every transition, every interaction is designed to amplify the narrative tension of the first episode. In the art and culture space, where works multiply and capturing attention is a constant challenge, this kind of immersive website becomes a genuine launch tool. It creates a digital event around the comic book, generates organic curiosity and offers a first, memorable experience of the work.

Results and impact

The system makes it possible to:

- design an immersive website in WebGL that plunges the visitor into the world of Black Messiah from the very first seconds;
- make the user an active participant in their navigation across five interactive scenes;
- create curiosity around an art and culture work unknown to the general public;
- amplify the launch of the comic book through a strong, memorable digital device;
- earn international recognition with five awards (Awwwards Site of the Day, CSSDA Website of the Day, FWA of the Day).

By articulating immersive website, WebGL, UX/UI and interactive storytelling, the web agency Bonhomme in Paris demonstrates its ability to build digital experiences that go beyond the mere presentation of a work to become its first narrative act. The Black Messiah project received five international awards, including the Awwwards Site of the Day, the CSSDA Website of the Day and the FWA of the Day.
